The Green County Child Advocacy Center

The Green County Child Advocacy Center provides a safe place for children and adolescents who are alleged victims of abuse or alleged witness to crimes to talk about their experiences. The Child Advocacy Center provides a forensically trained interviewer who knows the right questions to ask in a way that is intended to not re-traumatize the child. The Green County Child Advocacy Center is accredited by the National Children’s Alliance.

The Green County Child Advocacy Center is a member of a greater Multidisciplinary Team that consists of law enforcement, Child Protective Services, the Green County District Attorney’s Office, mental health providers, victims advocates and medical personnel. With this Multi-disciplinary Team, we are able to approach allegations of abuse or allegations of witness to crimes in a wraparound approach and in a way that best meets the needs of the families we serve. These services are offered at no charge.  The Multi-disciplinary Team works together to assist each child and family. It also offers services that are designed to minimize trauma to child victims of abuse, to provide support and assistance to the entire family, and to hold offenders accountable.

The Brick House

The Brick House is a facility that offers forensic interview services, therapeutic services and office space for local advocacy groups. The Brick House is truly a community project as it was remodeled completely by volunteer hours. Counseling Services

A therapist will be present at the Child    Advocacy center to provide immediate feedback and support to the family.

Individuals receiving interview services through the Child Advocacy Center can receive a referral to meet with a clinician for Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). The Green County Child Advocacy Center also receives referrals from the Child Protective Service System and the Juvenile Justice System. Community referrals are accepted on a case by case basis.

Trauma-focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) is an evidence based treatment for children age 4 to 17. TF-CBT is a structured, short-term treatment model that lessens trauma symptoms. It is considered highly effective in improving youth posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms, but a PTSD diagnosis is not required for the therapy model to be beneficial.

Individuals may also receive referrals to  other therapy programs, based on the individual needs.

For community referrals, please contact the CAC Coordinator through the Children, Youth and Families Unit at 608-328-9384
